Matterhorn: Alpine Escape
Matterhorn: Alpine Escape is a 450’ long steel track racing through caverns, underneath waterfalls and over bridges spanning the rocky terrain.
Originally conceived as a traditional PVC backyard track, the coaster evolved into a sophisticated steel track requiring the skills of pipe rolling, welding, and traditional wood construction to bring the coaster to life. Shortly after beginning the project, Magictecture acquired the talents of aspiring electrical and mechanical engineers as well as a computer scientist & musical composer to turn the experience into a storytelling art piece.
The rider situates themself inside a bobsled in a near horizontal position which is rapidly pulled up a long cavern to the top of the mountain, where they are quickly pushed into a series of tight hairpin turns, sudden drops, and brought within arms reach of a terrifying yeti. You can experience the ride on YouTube via the accompanying videos.
